There is always plenty going on in the area
- the best way to discover what is to keep an eye on noticeboards
in the town squares or on telegraph poles almost anywhere. France
Magazine has a good search
facility which is useful. It is very broad based but should
at least catch some of the big set-piece happenings in the region.
In
summertime there's lots going on, for instance:
There's a super re-enactment of the end of the 100-years war at
Castillon about 1/2 hour away. Go to http://www.batailledecastillon.com/
You
can take an interesting trip up la Dordogne on a model of the traditional
gabare; go to http://www.norbert.fr/ see
nearly 1000 years of history!
Attention
garden lovers!!! Go to http://www.marqueyssac.com/ for
info on how to visit a beautiful garden in the upper Dordogne in
the same region as la Roque Gageac, Beynac, Castenaud etc!!!
In August there usually a great display of ballooning at Duras
(15 minutes away)as part of the Fête du Vins - as
below!).
